  Statement about Lying in January 2015 Public Watchtower

  the online mag opens with this bold statement :.

  "most people lie at least once during a ten minute conversation.

  why bother trying to be different?".

  It's an average of 2.92 lies in 10 minutes. So it is about one lie every three minutes. It took me less than two minutes of reading from the heading of the Watchtower article to get to the first lie, or deception in this case. I guess the Watchtower is right. So what's your beef?

  Since the study included exaggerations as lies, I think JW's lie more often than the average. Have you asked JW's their opinion about the assemblies' speeches, the speakers and all presentations in general? How many lies could you count in ten minutes in this context? Or how about, "we miss you at the meeting" "we are so happy to see you", etc.

  In fact, Bluesbrother lied within seconds in the opening part, it's January 2016, not 2015. The Watchtower is right again

  (1) the hebrews considered themselves to be gods chosen people, yet israel had been dispersed by the assyrians and judah was dominated by egypt and then by babylon..

  (2) in response to judahs captivity, its prophets promised the nation that god would restore them to their rightful position and that god would forever maintain the throne of david..

  ever since my sister gave me an " awakening," i have been somewhat obsessed with the failings of the religion i was born into.

  i am especially outraged at the article i read about how the elders are supposed to deal with accusations of sexual abuse (jwfacts.com/watchtower/paedophelia.php).

  i myself suffered sexual and emotional abuse from a family "friend"/ministerial servant in a neighboring congregation.

  Agree 100 % with Simon. You are a new generation whose first obligation is to the coming generations, not to the previous one. Give a better world to your children. Suing the WT is a big and hard to make decision that should be based on how it benefits the younger generations, more than the older ones.

  Welcome shattered... to the forum and to the better part of your life, in spite of few bumps ahead. Never been a JW, but I have been close to them through family ties for almost thirty years. The surface of the religion looks good, in fact sometimes so good that even an atheist as myself rated it highly when I compared to other religions. Now, the inside is another matter...

  Even though there is some true to what you are saying, the facts are the facts. People are leaving organized religion faster than ever. As implied by your statement, there will never be a dramatic decline, but the gradual downward trend is clear and is in stark contrast to the upward trend of just 20 years ago. We are living in a watershed moment in the history of the Watchtower, and of religion in general. We are witnessing history, and the internet is the driving, inexorable force behind it. Your statement is based on past and reliable information, but information that is rapidly becoming obsolete. We just entered uncharted territory and the predictions that applied to old models won't work anymore.
